Standards & Ethics
The Maryland Art Therapy Association practices under the guidelines of the American Art Therapy Association, and is dedicated to the belief that the creative process, involved in the making of art, is healing and life-enhancing. MATA serves its members, and the general public, by providing standards and safeguards for professional competence and practice of the art therapy discipline, and by developing and promoting knowledge in ethical principles. The MATA ethical committee strives to:
- Educate its membership regarding issues of ethical practice
- Maintain and encourage adherence to the AATA code of ethics
- Address concerns of its members and the public
MATA collaborates with the American Art Therapy Association as necessary.
